(W F) Bill Milnes has been providing professional immigration advice since 1993, primarily through his previous company – Access Immigration in Auckland. He specialises in providing employer based immigration services to many local and international corporates and to the clients of some of New Zealand’s most prestigious law firms. He has acted for a number of international investors.
His record is perhaps unique in that he has had only five residence applications and one appeal declined; all because of failures in client documentation or health issues. Bill has been instrumental in having numerous decline decisions overturned on applications lodged by others.
Bill was a Director of the New Zealand Association for Migration & Investment for 10 years and Chairman for four. He was recognised for his years of distinguished service for the industry as a Finalist in the 2013 NZAMI Service Award. Bill was the industry representative on the Ministerial Advisory Group on Immigration 2000-2002, and prepared the presented Select Committee submissions on both the Immigration Advisers Licensing Bill and the Immigration Bill 2007. He was on the Editorial Board of the LexisNExis Immigration Practitioners Bulletin from 2005 to 2010. Bill is married with two adult children and is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand.
“I see our role as being to ensure that applications are presented in such a way that, to quote a thank you note I received from an INZ Manager, ‘…we can get it done and get it off the desk’.
The other area in which I am particularly interested is helping people by the ‘appeal’ process. If someone meets the intent of policy and we can identify that they will be of benefit to NZ, their application or appeal should be successful.”
